Help With BrailleNote Apex Braille Display

Hi,
A couple months ago I was using my Braillenote and it suddenly said memory scan when I was resetting it. Right after that, the braille display got all spungy like when it is turned off. It hasn't been working since. I've tried turning the Braille on and off, resetting the machine in several different ways, and also have asked friends how to fix it.
If you can help, please reply!
Thanks,
Abby

If you did 4-5-6 (JKL) reset, were you able to read "starting keysoft" on the display? If not, then it's likely a hardware issue that might require servicing in Canada.

You should do a hard reset.
If anything that you have tried doesn't work you should call the manufacture.

I tried a hard reset. And I've called Humanware

Hold the reset button down for 5 seconds it will do like a service reset and after it says memory scan, when you hold the reset button down for 5 seconds, it should work.

You can try the following, but this may or may not help.
Erase the entire dictionaries folder but after the folder erased message pops up, do not go back to the main menu. Instead, press the reset button and immediately after the reset beep is heard, press and hold a cursor routing key until "operating language?," appears on the display and/or is heard in speech. If the braille display is still not working, continue to hold the cursor routing key and perform another reset. Then keep pressing Enter through the factory defaults until the main menu is reached. If still no braille, erase the keysoft.ksd file from the dictionary folder and press reset by itself after "1 file erased," message is heard. Again, do not go back to the main menu. after erasing the ksd file.Hopefully "operating language," is showing up in braille and the display has been restored temporarily. If not, you'll have to send it in for sure, and you may need to do so anyway. I've been told there is a seperate power supply that provides power to the display, and it's possible this is the cause. Good luck!

Also, while I think this procedure is accurate with the Apex, it's possible it's not. I just know how Keysoft worked with the m-power, and assume this would be the same thing for the Apex. I've yet to encounter the problem you're describing with the newer models of the BN.
